You’ll notice that I’m not echoing any Republican rhetoric about Obama giving in to all our enemies. The reason for that is that I can’t see any difference, beyond rhetoric, in the foreign policy proposals of the two candidates. Both are committed to universal intervention everywhere, with total disregard for actual US interests. Our foreign policy should be based on what is best for us, not on going around like the Three Amigos righting wrongs everywhere we find them. But that’s just me. I’m a paleocon.

WILLIAM AYERS AND OBAMA CARTOON

The nuances of all this Ayers business are fascinating. First, Obama never heard of him, then he was just on some kind of board with him, then Ayers isn’t so bad, then, well, he used to be a communist but not any more, then, well, he still is, but Richie Daley likes him, so he’s okay. (Chris Matthews said that Daley is as conservative as anybody he knows. I could have sworn he knew Pat Buchanan.) Now, even bringing up the association is “tinfoil hat” stuff, as one Obamaite told me. And it’s probably even incitement to riot, racism, and all that other bad stuff. Anyhow….
